Description
The AQUATICA A7rIII UW case is specially designed for the SONY A7RIII camera.
This new SONY camera records images up to 42 mp and video sequences up to 4K quality. (BSI Sensor)
The A7rIII camera is a full-frame sensor camera with the “Back Illuminated technique”, a perfect technique especially in UW photography as this allows shooting in extremely dark light situations, among others.
By eliminating the classic mirror in DSLR camera construction, the camera becomes smaller, more compact and more robust.
Other advantages of the new SONY A7rIII are:
Easily switch from still/ to video mode
By not using the mechanical mirror (DSLR), the camera is very compact, yet of the highest quality and robustly built.
Ideal for underwater use due to individual functional assignment. Closing speed, aperture selection and ISO setting can be selected ergonomically quickly and easily without taking the hands off the handles.
The e-mount lens connector allows the use of an incredibly large lens pallet, such as the SONY lenses as well as lenses from other manufacturers such as CANON and Leitz.
Overview:
- Large and sophisticated port system, also suitable for all Aquatica DSLR and video housing
- Easy and fast installation of further viewfinder systems (45/ 90°)
- Best selection of lightning connections on the market, no additional costs no matter which connection choice. (Dual Nikonos 5/ Optical/ IKELITE
- Perfect ergonomics, most important camera control close to the handle including rear dial wheel.
- Transfer all camera controls, selectable even with thick gloves.
- Secure port closure/safety system
- Safe, comfortable, ergonomic and removable handles (for transport e.g.)
- Precise and safe camera installation by means of a slide and snap fastener.

- Eight (8) threads for fastening, mounting (1/4″-20) – e.g. arms, tripod, brackets, setting light, etc.
- Insert depth 90 m or 130 m (stronger springs) at no extra charge.
- Best materials and state-of-the-art machining machines/processes.
Mass and weights:
Dimensions: 250 x 163 x 127 mm (without handles)
Weight: 2.2 Kg without handles/ 2.6 kg with handles
Depth of use: 90/ 130 m

The recording technology in the SONY A7rII allows direct video recording in 4K 30p quality for the first time
save to the internal memory card or uncompiled 4:2:2 8-bit signal via HDMI, or both even in parallel.
It even allows internal processing of full-format 4K video sequences to the overall width of the sensor.
The 5 axis image stabilizer guarantees shaky quiet video recordings.
During the development of the new A7rIII housing, the greatest importance was placed on optimal and practical ergonomics when handling underwater. All “main functions” , i.e. the camera controls that are constantly needed, are logically and ergonomically accessible without taking your hands off the handles. During the development, new ideas and techniques were implemented to ensure the best and practical camera operation.
Thanks to a new housing construction technology, it is possible to operate the joystick of the camera underwater.
During the development, a lot of attention was paid to making all important camera functions easily accessible and operable, because only then can these functions be implemented in a practice-oriented manner.
For 25 years AQUATICA enclosures have had practical, robust and removable handles that have proven themselves in thousands of applications. These robust but lightweight handles allow the camera to operate even in extremely low water temperatures. On the top of the handles are threads to adapt light arms such as the AQUATICA Delta 3 arm system safely and firmly. Thus, no disturbing flash arm must be attached directly to the housing.
The A7rII case comes with 2 flash connections.
As a result, there are no additional costs due to additionally required accessories. There are several flash connections available: Optical, IKELITE and NIKONOS 5 (N) connectors .. of your choice. All flash connections are easily – without special tool- interchangeable.
The standard version of the case is already equipped with an optical “Galilieo” viewer ocular. Of course, the LCD screen can be viewed via the rear viewing screen. Aquatica optionally emulates 2 more eyepieces, a 90° and a 45° viewfinder, which can be easily installed by yourself. As an accessory there is a sun visor which prevents the LCD from being visible in the case of stronger ambient light.
Aquatica offers a wealth of high-quality ports, 3 different planports, 10cm/ 15cm/ 20cm and 23.5cm of super wide angle ports, in optical mineral glass and in optical acrylic glass. The port system is supplemented by a variety of port extension rings in order to be able to use zoom lenses even under water. Interestingly, the same ports as all DSLR housings and also video housings fit on the SONY A7rII housing. The large viewfinder systems of the DSLR housing also fit.
The AQUATICA A7rII housing can be ordered or retrofitted with the “Surveyor” leak alarm/ or with the vacuum system – to detect, order or retrofit possibly defective O-rings/leaks.
To prevent accidental opening of the housing, the closures are equipped with an additional locking lever.
The housing is milled from a full block of special, seawater resistant aluminium (6061 T6). This high-quality material is primarily used in aerospace technology. This material is known for its corrosion resistance. The housing is hard anodized and additionally polyurethane coated/evaporated under heat (certified to A:A:M:A: 2603-98 specification) This additional surface protection allows Aquatica enclosures to survive long-term toughest applications. Housing inserts of more than 3000 dives are not uncommon.
The transfer elements/shafts are made of the highest quality stainless steel. In order to prevent possible electrolytic corrosion, all Aquatica enclosures are equipped with sacrificial anodes.
The housing has 2 flash connection feedthroughs and 3 “blind feedthroughs” to transmit e.g. the video signal (external monitor, surface transmission, etc.)
